Best Albums of 2020 (so far)
In a year as chaotic and stressful as 2020 has been, the one constant this year was an influx of great music. With the variables of COVID shutting society down, protests in favor of defunding and disbanding the police, and a lack of usual entertainment sources, the world desperately needed a soundtrack and music delivered in spades. Even with the lack of incentive to release due to the absence of live concerts in the future, artists have come together to put out great music. In appreciation, I gathered some writers/friends of mine to discuss some of our favorite projects to come out this year. I’ll quickly list a big handful of honorable mentions that weren’t picked amongst my panel and I didn’t have enough to say about but I still enjoyed: Pray for Paris by Westside Gunn, Anyways by Young Nudy, Confused by YungManny, They Call Me Disco EP by Ric Wilson & Terrace Martin, Moonstone EP by Raveena, Angelic Hoodrat by Kenny Mason, Yellow Tape & Son of a Gun by Key Glock, Texas Sun EP by Leon Bridges & Khurangbin, Eat When You’re Hungry Sleep When You’re Tired by Jay Worthy & Harry Fraud, Crashed My Car by Hook, The Wolf of Peachtree by Jelly & Pi’erre Bourne, 1988 by Knxwledge, The GOAT by Polo G, Petals for Armor by Hayley Williams, Àdá Irin by Navy Blue, Pray 4 Love by Rod Wave, and At The End of The Day by Fly Anakin.
