Best of 2005 Pt. 2
In the first installment of this mini-series, I discussed Chris Brown’s great debut album and how it affected me as a youth, The Game’s emergence with The Documentary, and Kanye West’s sensational sophomore album, Late Registration. In this second part, I’ll be diving into two southern greats, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy that solidified their statuses as superstars with Tha Carter II and Thug Motivation 101. But first, I’ll be discussing my first ever celebrity idol as a kid, 50 Cent, and what how he sustained his dominance in 2005.
50 Cent- The Massacre: 50 Cent was the first rapper I remember ever hearing vividly. Sure, the tiny toddler version of me shouldn’t have been shooting his enemies and anyone who thought to oppose him. Other than 50 being the my very first introduction to hip-hop and music altogether, I’m not sure what was his drawing point. One thing that was certain was the fact that his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin was incredibly impactful.
