Pitching Crazy Roles for Actors
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about this idea that had been brewing in my head for days. For the past several days, I was thinking about how certain roles fit certain actors, how the booking was almost *too* good. There’s a reason Daniel Day Lewis isn’t courting ideas from Marvel or DC for a superhero character. Jason Statham isn’t doing arthouse films anytime soon. In some cases, dramatic roles can work incredibly well for comedy actors (Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems and Punch Drunk Love are the prime examples) but we don’t see them very often. Then, something clicked in my wild imagination: What would certain movies look like if you put different actors in big, out of place roles? I had 5 main ideas I wanted to pitch and how I think those movies would turn out. Just to make things simple, I’m not taking into effect how old these actors would be when I’m plucking them in these roles. So if a certain actor now is in a big movie that precedes their career, it’s fine. I’m just taking the fundamental ideas of these actors and plopping them in the most bizarre roles possible. To quote Alfred from the Dark Knight, “some people just wanna watch the world burn.” This is all mostly for laughs, do not take me all that seriously here.
