Ranking (Almost) Every Kanye West Song

Ranking Kanye West’s songs is one of the most daunting tasks I’ve ever assigned myself when discussing music. I remember a few years ago, these March Madness style brackets came out for different musicians like Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Those were extremely easy for me, I already had a strong feeling what my favorite songs are from those artists. With Kanye, however, I found myself barely escaping the semi-finals, failing to come to the ultimate conclusion: what is the best Kanye West song?

A few notes I have to mention before I fully dive into the best and the worst from Kanye. I didn’t include skits or an outro like “Who Will Survive in America?” because I thought they were inessential towards the ultimate rankings. I made a couple exceptions but only because I thought they were really good. I avoided the loosies because: 1. None of them really matter in the grand scheme of the Kanye West discography and 2. there are some records that didn’t make an album that I’d rather not think about again (the whole slew of loose songs in 2018 all make the bottom of the list if included.) Lastly, I didn’t want to overcomplicate things by including the collaborative projects with Jay-Z and Kid Cudi. I don’t see anyone ranking any of those R.Kelly and Coldplay records that Jay-Z has in his loaded album catalog. Ultimately, I’m keeping things to what I felt were the bare necessities. I’ll…
