The Good & The Ugly: 2018

We’re in the final stretch of the series now. 2017 was overwhelmingly good despite the onslaught of bad music from pop chart mainstays like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and Katy Perry. 2018 saw somewhat of a cool down period, the charts could hardly maintain consistent excellence for more than a year or two. There was a number of great songs regardless, noting the rise of Cardi B, the continued upward momentum of Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar’s great year, and Drake trying to shake the stink off of the beef with Pusha T by providing great hits. The bad stuff, however, has some of the worst songs I’ll cover on this list at all.

Before I dive into the list proper, here are some honorable mentions: Post Malone- “Rockstar”/”Better Now”, Blocboy JB- “Look Alive”, Offset- “Ric Flair Drip”, Travis Scott- “Sicko Mode”, Migos- “Walk It Talk It”/”Stir Fry”, Kendrick Lamar- “All The Stars”/“Love”, Jay Rock- “King’s Dead”, Miguel- “Sky Walker”, NERD & Rihanna- “Lemon”, Drake- “Nice For What”, Juice Wrld- “Lucid Dreams”, and The Weeknd- “Call Out My Name”. Perhaps the best place to start is the woman who completely owned 2018 with every move she made.
