Why Daniel Bryan is The GOAT
I had a fluctuating cast of favorite wrestlers throughout my early childhood. When I first got into wrestling, it was all about Jeff Hardy. He had all the small quirks that I loved in a wrestler with the move set and the aesthetic. With time, my favorites changed, from Edge to CM Punk, those were the people keeping me invested in wrestling. As I grew older, I nearly fell out of love with professional wrestling. A mixture of dying interest due to a lack of access and varying quality in the product. I watched people that I grew to love leave. Edge retired, CM Punk left the company, and Hardy was working outside of WWE. Nothing was keeping me interested to tune in live. There was always one wrestler, though, that kept me checking on YouTube for the product: Daniel Bryan.
Despite the mixed quality that WWE kept pumping out, Bryan was one person that stuck out amongst the crap. As a character, he intrigued me endlessly and that was the most important thing for me. Being a great wrestler but still bland meant nothing to me. If there’s not a look or a character, often times I’d ignore it until the main event rolled in — the only exception was Matt Sydal, FKA Evan Bourne, I thought his finisher was tight.
